Shuna Beckett

I am a Sheffield-based Creative Well-being Practitioner with over twenty years experience of delivering needs-led one-to-one and group work with children and young people in both formal education and informal settings. My background is in drama and storytelling, but I work across a range of art forms to improve confidence and emotional well-being, and to help children reach their potential.

Who I work with

  • Early years to young adult
  • Mainstream, special and informal educational settings
  • Foster agencies
  • With any child or young person who is struggling emotionally, socially or academically. For example, children with:

– Emotional and behavioural difficulties

– Mental health issues

– Children at risk of exclusion

– Special educational needs

– Looked-after children

– Young carers

– Children affected by domestic abuse

– New arrivals, refugees and asylum-seeker children, or English as an Additional Language

– Children experiencing other life changes

What I do

  • Voluntary, trauma-informed, inclusive and child-led one-to-one and (small or large) group workshops
  • A mixture of stories, games, music, sand play, drama, puppetry, arts and crafts, and other bespoke activities, to explore feelings, process the past, improve confidence, self-esteem, communication, etc.
  • Staff consultation and training

“You make me happy. I’m going to miss you, it’s been lots of fun and it wasn’t long enough.”
